This brass sculpture shows fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu known as Narsingh. He has half human body and half lion (face). He is holding her consort Lakshmi (who is the consort of Vishnu) in his hands. The hooded snake under his left leg signifies that he has no fear for them (snakes/demons from the under waters world). He is seen with four hands in the statue and his right lower hand is offering blessings to all his devotees. Narsingh is considered a ferocious from of Vishnu, who is popularly depicted killing Hiranyakashipu, the father of Prahlada, and the brother of Holika. Hiranyakashipu tried to kill his son Prahlada as he was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and he did not like it at all. His sister Holika was having a boon to be safe from fire and hence he put Prahlada in her lap on a pyre. But with Vishnu’s blessing Holika got burnt and Prahalada remained safe.
