Lord Vishnu, also popular as Shri Hari or Narayana among his devotees, is the supreme god in Vaishnavism in Hindu religion. He is the part of Trimurti, Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh and known as the preserver or the sustainer of the universe. Lord Vishnu is always shown in dark-blue or black colored skin, completely adorned with precious jewels.

Lord Vishnu is usually depicted with four hands, with a conch shell and Sudarshan Chakra in two hands at the back. Hands at the front hold a Gada and a lotus flower. His necklace contains a Kaustubh gem and he wears a Vaijyanti garland along with a royal crown. He is always seen carrying yellow garments.

Lord Vishnu is seen sleeping on the coils of the serpent Adishesha floating in the ocean of milk known as Kshira Sagara along with his consort Goddess Lakshmi.

Lord Vishnu plays the role of the preserver of the universe in the trinity, who is known for his Dashavatara. Dashavatara or the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu are meant to remove evil from earth, protect dharma and ultimately get earth rid of burden. The ten avatars of Lord Vishnu are namely Buddha, Krishna, Rama, Parshurama, Narasimha, Vamana, Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, and finally, he will be Kalki in Kalyug. Among all Krishna and Rama are the most famous incarnations.

Considered to be the most sacred of all Hindu gods, Lord Vishnu is loved and praised by the majority of devotees. His stories especially as Krishna and Rama are very popular which are recited even today. The verses of Bhagwat Gita spoken by Lord Krishna during Mahabharata has laid the foundation of many successful lives today.

According to the Padma Purana there are 108 names of Vishnu on the other hand there is a list of thousand names as per Garuda Purana. These thousand names describe each and every aspect of Lord Vishnu mentioned in Vishnu Sahasranama. It is believed that the regular recitation of these names is capable of bringing peace in life and attaining Moksha. The worship of the sacred deity of Lord Narayana (Vishnu) with Goddess Lakshmi brings happiness, prosperity and success in life.
